“CIRCUM SONORO” - Field recording research and performance
“Circum Sonoro” represents the field recording research developed during a two week period at the Avista Vulcao artistic residency, on the island of Faial, Açores. After some days of sonic exploration around the island, the residency ends with a performance open to the public.
The artist's work is translated into a collage of sounds that reflect the nature of the island, spontaneous encounters, moments of heartfelt music and compositional ideas inspired by the elements that surround it.
The audience is invited to walk to the Whale Watch in Capelo, a unique space that used to be a whale watching offshore.
In this singular setting, the artist presents a sound and musical piece composed based on his experiences during his stay, collecting sounds of nature, urbanity, people he met and songs he listened to and composed.
The piece provides a deep exploration of the sonority of this territory, immersing oneself in its unique atmosphere.
Inside the Watch, two benches are available to accommodate two spectators at a time, offering an intimate performance experience, in front of the panoramic window. Each presentation is ephemeral and unique, lasting approximately 10 minutes each, allowing the audience to experience this immersive work in a personal and unrepeatable way.
This presentation invites you to a sensory journey that reflects the essence of Faial, providing a singular and unforgettable experience to those who live it.
This work was supported by Avista Vulcao, Culture Moves Europe, Creative Europe and Goethe Institut.
